As of yesterday evening I no longer live alone. I adopted 14 week old Lilly from a kennel in Missouri. She's a beautiful white, Siberian husky. We've been having loads of fun together but she's got a long way to go, training wise. If I put her leash on she won't budge, but she'll follow me at my heels just about anywhere! Updates to come!

I love old, busted stuff. Driving home this past weekend I passed a ~1950 Dodge pickup truck for sale on the side of the road in Savoy, MA. The truck was neat, but what stood out was the Mack truck hood ornament that its owner had bolted onto the front. I jotted down the number on the for sale sign, the next time I'm on my way through I may give the seller a call to see if they're willing to part with just the hood ornament. Why? Couldn't tell you, just want it. In the meantime I've got this picture to look at.

We lost the newest member of our family today. Ajax had to be put to sleep after a bowel obstruction caused most of his intestines to become ischemic. He'll be missed very much. On the upside, by next weekend we'll be welcoming another new member of the family when my sister gives birth to my very first niece! This taught me an important lesson about never missing opportunities to take pictures, and that you can never have enough of them.

I've been in a bit of a photo-funk for the past couple weeks. I had a drive die which caused me to lose ~3 months of pictures. Some real gems, too. I'm making efforts to be much more vigilant about backups, but I wish it weren't necessary for me to frequently learn lessons the hard way.
So to fill the void, another pano from the summit of Mt. Washington from last summer. This one with stitched from 22 horizontal exposures. Why? I have _no_ idea. Came out nice though!

Another shot of me enjoying my rented Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 in front of Jonathan Borofsky's Human Structures sculpture outside of 555 Mission in San Francisco. If you don't want people climbing on your 'art' you really shouldn't make art that looks like colorful jungle gyms for children. A thousand thanks to Erin Peterson for all the laughs.

A storefront shot of Yee's Restaurant in the heart of Chinatown in San Francisco. I was irritated at first about not being able to find a decent angle on the window without having a polarizer to kill the reflection. Silly me, the reflection is what makes the photo. There's a lot going on, but it lends so much atmosphere to the image: the sign, the other store fronts, the lanterns, etc. One of my favorite shots from this trip for sure. Thanks to andypeace for the company, photo-walking by yourself is rarely any fun.

Not exactly ideal photography conditions, even by San Francisco standards. I nabbed a dozen or so frames of the Golden Gate Bridge from a hilltop on the Marin County side. Not quite the iconic shot of the towers peaking above the fog, but there's a mystery about this shot that makes me like it. A thousand thanks to gstatton for the driving tour of San Fran!
